Тарас Шевченко - видатний український поет, прозаїк, драматург, художник, політичний і громадський діяч. Він був людиною універсальних обдарувань та інтересів. Все його життя і творчість були присвячені українському народу. Поет мріяв про ті часи, коли його країна буде незалежною суверенною державою, коли в Україні шануватимуться мова, культура та історія народу, а люди будуть щасливими. Ім'я Тараса Шевченка відоме в усьому світі: у багатьох країнах йому встановлені пам'ятники, його твори перекладені майже на всі мови світу, його ім'ям в Україні названі навчальні заклади, театри, площі, вулиці, міста. Національна опера України, Київський національний університет, центральний бульвар міста Києва носять ім'я видатного сина українського народу - Тараса Шевченка.
Taras Shevchenko is an outstanding Ukrainian poet, novelist, playwright, artist, politician and public figure. He was a man of universal talents and interests. All his life and work were dedicated to the Ukrainian people. The poet dreamed of the times when his country would be an independent sovereign state, when the language, culture and history of the people would be respected in Ukraine, and people would be happy. Taras Shevchenko's name is known all over the world: monuments to him have been erected in many countries, his works have been translated into almost all languages of the world, educational institutions, theaters, squares, streets and cities are named after him in Ukraine. The National Opera of Ukraine, Kyiv National University, the central boulevard of Kyiv are named after the outstanding son of the Ukrainian people - Taras Shevchenko.
