Дуб темний - дерево, яке є втіленням могутності й сили. Дуб – рід дерев родини Букові. Ця порода вважається найпопулярнішою та найуживанішою в оздобленні оселі, завдяки спокійній і водночас багатій кольоровій гамі. Дуб - наймогутніше дерево української флори. Він виростає величеньких розмірів. Біля села Мельники Чернігівського району росте дуб висотою 30 м і з обхватом стовбура 8.65 м. Вік його становить біля 1100 років. Такі дуби - живі свідки історичних подій ще з княжих часів. З давніх-давен дуб вірно служив людям. Особливо цінувалася його міцна деревина, з якої виготовляли домашнє начиння, будували фортеці, житла. Дубова кора використовувалася як найкраща дубильна речовина для вичинки шкір, а листя давало гарні фарби. У голодні роки із кори, жолудів люди випікали навіть хліб. В Україні існував добрий звичай – на відзнаку народження хлопчика садити біля хати молодий дубочок...

This breed is considered the most popular and most used in home decoration, thanks to the calm and at the same time rich colors. Oak is the most powerful tree of Ukrainian flora. It grows to huge sizes. Near the village of Melnyky, Chernihiv district, there is an oak tree 30 m high and with a trunk girth of 8.65 m. Its age is about 1100 years. Such oaks are living witnesses of historical events since princely times. From time immemorial, oak has served people faithfully. Its strong wood was especially valued, from which household utensils were made, fortresses and dwellings were built. Oak bark was used as the best tanning agent for tanning leather, and the leaves gave good colors. In the famine years, people even baked bread from bark and acorns. In Ukraine, there was a good custom - to plant a young stick near the house to celebrate the birth of a boy...
